The project at Andrew Marvell Business & Enterprise College was to design, build and furnish their brand new three-storey school in time for the new year.
The four-month installation scheme was part of the Government’s Building Schools for the Future programme, and was carried out alongside one of the UK’s leading construction firms, Morgan Sindall.
We designed, built and furnished every room in the school, including modern ICT suites; an inviting reception area; social areas where students can relax between lessons; and state-of-the-art science labs.
David Claughton, Director at Claughtons, comments: “It was a really interesting and unique project for us because we were working on a live site during school term time. So it was crucial that we carried out the build and handled the logistics as efficiently as possible to make sure disruption to all the staff and students was kept to a minimum.”
Andrew Marvell College now has a purpose-built space for up to 1,300 students, and features theatre space, drama and dance studios, fitness suites, a sports hall and a floodlit all-weather pitch.
Roy Perry, Project Manager at Morgan Sindall, said: “From start to finish it was a pleasure to work with Claughtons. We had complete faith in the company as a whole. Staff were always prepared and utilised their previous expertise in this field.
“We always felt as though the team, both on and off site knew what was going on and if we had any thoughts or questions we knew exactly who to go to, to get prompt, clear and thorough explanations. Claughtons showed understanding of both the individual project and the College as a whole, and did everything within its power to minimise disruption whilst on site.”
